A lovely Chardonnay from Burgundy, showing distinctive notes of vanilla, pear, pineapple and white flowers. Full, yet elegant in the mouth, with notes of citrus.
The 2021 Domaine Thierry Drouin Mâcon "Plaisance" is a classic, crisp White Burgundy made entirely from 100% Chardonnay grapes. Produced by a highly-regarded family estate in the southern part of Burgundy, France, this wine offers a rich and elegant experience at a great value.
- On the nose: Strong aromas of vanilla, pear, pineapple, and white flowers.
- On the palate: It is full-bodied yet elegant, showcasing bright citrus notes, golden apple, honey, and yellow plum.
- Texture: It balances a rich, buttery, and slightly creamy weight from oak aging with a refreshing, crisp mineral finish.
The Drouin family practices sustainable viticulture and plows more than half of their vineyards to keep the soil healthy. For the "Plaisance" bottling, the juices are gravity-fed into French oak barrels where both alcoholic and malolactic fermentations take place. The wine is then aged for 8 months in French oak to add complexity and a soft texture.
- Poultry: Roasted chicken or turkey.
- Seafood: Richer fish dishes like salmon, or shellfish with butter sauce.
- Cheese: Creamy cheeses like Brie or mild goat cheese
